FAQ
Here are some questions and concerns that every missionary has while on the mission. So we have put together a little FAQ list so you will be able to figure them out on your own.
Q: What is Missionary Contacts?
A: Missionary Contacts is the new way that all referrals from outside the mission, as well as mormon.org, get to the missionaries that need them.
Q: Why do we have Missionary Contacts?
A:  So that the Tech Elders don't have to call you and give you a referral over the phone every time you get one.  It's also used by the MTC/Missionary Department to keep track of  referrals so they have lots of data to analyze.
Q: I have money problems; what do I do?
A: Calm down and buy yourself a failure food.....oh wait you can't.  I guess you just have to wait 'til next month to buy your soda and junk food! :)
Q: How do I order supplies?
A: Email the mission office at 2019604@ldschurch.org.  Be specific and reasonable about what you need, or else we will just send you many boxes of the depressed people pass-along cards.
Q: What about ordering nametags?
A: Call Elder Gubler (0801), then email the mission office with your order. They cost about 6 Euro a pop, which will be taken from your MSF.
Q: I lost my Bahn card!
A: That's not a question.... but just inform the Tech Elders and they will help you through the grieving process.
Q: How do I get on the mission drive (formerly known as Dropbox)?
A: Go here. Or just click on the link on the blog home page like everyone else.
Q: How can I use the Mission Blog effectively?
A: Use some of your appointed media time bzw. P-day time to get on and look around. Then, tell the Tech Elders what to fix/improve and they'll try.  Next week, though.
Q: How many missionaries are there in the mission?
A: With everyone it is 258 and with only young full-time elders and sisters we have around 226.
Q: Can you put the new transfer scenario on the blog?
A: Sorry, we can't post them. Just pay attention next transfer call! :)
Q: How do I anmeld myself?
A: Legally, you are required to anmeld yourself within three days of moving to a new city. You do this at the Landratsamt or the Ausländerbehörde (if you ask at the Rathaus they will tell you where to go). When you anmeld in your first area make a copy of your registration and send it to the misison office. You will need to keep this for when you apply for a German driver's license.
The things that you will need to get yourself anmelded are:
  1. Passport
  2. Previous anmeldung from first/last area, but if you are new coming to Germany you don't have to worry about that.
  3. The address to the apartment and the Hausmeister's name
  4. Identification that you actually live there (usually just the Mietvertrag, found in your red book)

Q: How do I get my Visa?
A: You have six months to get your Visa (Aufenthaltstitel) to stay in Germany. Because you never know when you might be transferred, it is a good idea to apply for your Visa as soon as you have Anmelded in your first city. Some cities are slow to give you an appointment to apply and some cities make it quite difficult to obtain a Visa. Go to the Ausländerbehörde in your area and let them know you are applying for a Visa.
The things that you will need to apply for your Visa are:
  1. All of the paperwork from your first day orientation
  2. Passport
  3. 1 Photo (35mm X45mm, borderless)
  4. Anmeldung paper
  5. The extra €110 from your MSF

Q: How do I get my German driver's license?
A: Go to the official place in your city where you can get driver's licenses.  You will need:
  1. Passport
  2. 1 Photo (35mm X45mm, borderless)
  3. Your valid driver's license from home state/country
  4. The translation of your license (Elder Gubler probably has this)
  5. Your driving record from your home state/country (also with Elder Gubler)
  6. Your anmeldung paper from your first registration in Germany
  7. Your Visa
  8. Like €50 personal money
Q: How can I be a good missionary?
A: Be obedient, diligent, and follow the Spirit. And be loving and bold. Y'all are great. :)
